A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Belding, Michigan was convened in open and public session at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.
Mayor Protem Meyers delivered the invocation.
The Mayor Protem led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The City Clerk took the roll call:
Members Present: Council Members Mike Scheid, Bruce Meyers and Douglas Feehan
Members Absent: Council Members Brad Miller and Jorel Davis
Council Member Feehan made a motion to excuse Council Members Miller and Davis from the meeting, supported by Council Member Scheid.
The question on the motion was called and the result of the voting is as follows:
Ayes: Council Members Scheid, Meyers and Feehan
Nays: None
Council Member Scheid made a motion to approve the agenda as presented, supported by Council Member Feehan.
Council Member Scheid made a motion to add to the agenda the amendment of Resolution #2019-08-50, Temporary Street Closure for Congress Street, to change the time of the closure from noon to 4 p.m. to noon to 7 p.m., supported by Council Member Feehan.
The question on the motion was called and the result of the voting is as follows:
Ayes: Council Members Scheid, Meyers and Feehan
Nays: None
Holly Noble thanked the council so much for coming in tonight. The Veteran’s Park is hoping they will be in support. The group is 501(c)3 recognized.
Council Member Scheid moved the passage of the resolution and the motion was supported by Council Member Feehan.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BELDING, MICHIGAN RECOMMENDING THAT THE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, FREEDOM WALL, OPERATING IN THE COMMMUNITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING A CHARTABLE GAMING LICENSE, BE CONSIDERED FOR APPROVAL.
WHEREAS, the Freedom Wall organization has applied to the State of Michigan Charitable Gaming Division for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and
WHEREAS, local approval is needed, asking that Freedom Wall be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Belding, Michigan that the request from Freedom Wall of Belding, County of Ionia, asking that they be recognized as a nonprofit organization, operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license, be considered for approval.
